Agus was introduces to Badminton by his father at age 11 for fun and exercise. After 6 months of learning to hit with his dad, Agues entered a couple of local tournaments and to his own surprise, he won. Agus then started to play at the Tangkas Club in Jakarta and continued to work his way up in the junior standings in Indonesia. By the time he turned 18, Agus has climbed up the rankings to be in the top 8 for men’s singlein Indonesia. At the age of 19 in 2003, Agus made a major change in his life and moved to Denmark to pursue badminton playing and coaching opportunities there.

He joined in as a player and coach at the Skaelskoer club which is where Peter Gade, Mathias Boe and Tony Gunawan have played together in the professional Danish League in recent years. In 2005 Agus was promoted to be the head coach and coordinator of the Junior Programs at Skaelskoer. In 2007, Agus was promoted again to be the head coach of the Junior Team for South Denmark under 19 years.
